TIGER FLASH AND BLUE

where the plop
       of a fat carp
and soft knock
       of coot-ripple
on the rotting
       half-sunk jetty
fade into the reeds'
       green silence

tiger flash and blue
       quick-lived flicker
of damselflies
       riddle the sun's
yellow light
       as it dives
down into the dark
       weedy water
of a brown pond
